Flying Fish

Luna and I are meeting her Uncle Dung for dinner at Flying Fish. It’s where we had one of our best restaurant meals, so I hope that tonight’s a repeat. During the month of March, Flying Fish is offering a USD25, 3-course prix-fixe dinner menu.

Uncle Dung is in town for a conference, but lives in Iowa. A visit from him’s good enough reason to get out of the house.

Update: Even on a Wednesday, Flying Fish is alive and popular. We had a long wait at the bar. In return, the hostess sent us a plate of egg rolls, gratis and mouth-watering. I can’t fault the service nor the food.

Curiously, our choice for main course ended up being mahi mahi. For all three of us. The “grilled fish of the day” Luna wanted turned out to be Albacore Tuna, which she can’t eat, so she chose the barracuda instead. My original choice was barracuda. And despite his lead-time with the menu, my Uncle couldn’t make a choice, and also ended up choosing barracuda.

Except they were out of barracuda and were substituting mahi mahi instead. Mahi mahi has always been too dry to my taste. How disappointing that this is what we all, somehow, ended up eating!

I’d happily eat here again anytime. Try to take advantage of the 25 for USD25 in Seattle deal during March: it’s one of the best values going anywhere. (Don’t forget, pay with your Mastercard and get a USD10 gift card to Larry’s Market.)
