This site is built on a tasty bit of blogging software called WordPress. The site’s good looks are thanks to Ajay D’Souza’s “Connections Reloaded” 1.2.1, a reworking of Patricia Muller’s Connections theme (reviewed here). The photograph in the banner is by silentcolors courtesy of a Creative Commons license (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5).
The site also hosts a discussion forum and a wiki (both are private). The forum software is called Lussumo Vanilla. The wiki runs on DokuWiki.
The site is hosted by HostPC.com. I use the following tools to maintain it:
- web browser—Mozilla Firefox and Opera
- text editor—NotePad++
- ftp client—FileZilla
- notepad replacement—Notepad2
The site relies on a few outside services, too, such as del.icio.us for social bookmarking, Flickr for photo sharing, and Amazon.com for its vast database of books and music.
I track site statistics using Shaun Inman’s ShortStat, PathStats, and the StatCounter.com service.
Plugins are “tools to extend the functionality of WordPress.” Finding the good ones is a lot of fun. The plugins that power this site are listed below.
